The idea was to boil liquid in one bottle, condense it make the condensed liquid move to the other bottle. This alembic gadget was best used as what we call the still. They could make great moonshine.

How about the first laptop? As far back as 2700 BC people were using the abacus to do mathematical calculations. People trained in the use of this gadget can do up to 10 calculations per minute.

So really the guys, gadgets we use today were useful inventions in the past. So who knows what new gadget will lead to the next big invention.
